What An Amazing July!

We don't think we've ever seen a July with such pleasant weather!   We've really enjoyed it, and hope you have, too.   We just wanted to give you a recap of several fun events over the last two weeks.   We hope you enjoyed some or all of these events; or just simply enjoyed the wonderful days we had in July wherever you were!

Summer Social a Success!

We counted seventy-nine members and several guests gathered at Centennial Park last Sunday evening for our first ever summer social.   The weather was absolutely ideal!   We had great food and an opportunity to visit and socialize.   Sherry Brun had come up with an idea to match dinner partners.   Each couple or person attending got one half of a picture, and ate with the person or couple holding the other half.   It was a good opportunity to get to know each other better.   The park was a wonderful locationa new covered shelter surrounded by grass and trees.   We heard many positive comments on the evening and hope to repeat this event in the future.   Thanks to Lloyd and Connie Northrop and their committee for planning the social; and to Larry and Alice DeMoss for providing the beverages.   [And to Dave Ketchum and Mike Anderson for rescuing Vernon's airplane from the treetops.]   Vernon & Toni have uploaded photos to their flickr site,   click here to view

Docey Dandies have a Dandy Oldies Dance!

We were sorry to have missed this one, because we hear it was a lot of fun.   A bunch of members of Happy Time Squares traveled to Gardner on Saturday night (July 25) for their Oldies Night dance.   Vic Perry lent his inimitable style calling to the Rock and Roll classics for dancing.   There were at least 13 squares of dancers.   In between tips, Vic played 50's music, and people really enjoyed doing some of the old dances such as the Twist.   Donna Valizan and the Docey Dandies did a great job of carrying out the Oldies theme complete with soda fountain, decorations, and Harley motorcycle.

Travel Dance To Ottawa July 18

Thirty-four members of Happy Time Squares marched for the Ottawa Promenaders' banner on Saturday, July 18.   The theme was God Bless America, and we all had a great time celebrating our country and enjoying good dancing.   Vic Perry called his usual great dance, and Wade Morrow contributed a tip.   We always enjoy our trips to Ottawa, and this one was no exception.

Round Dancing at Wingerts' Barn

Seventeen couples gathered in Wingerts' Barn on Thursday, July 23, for an evening of round dancing cued by Vernon Nelson.   These monthly events are proving to be popular, and we assume Vernon will be holding another dance in August!

Happy Birthday, Bob!

Bob Rainbolt was surprised on his 70th birthday with a party at Wingerts' Barn.   Happy Time Squares members joined members of Bob's family, ham radio friends, and other friends to celebrate the occasion.   Bob was truly surprised (he thought he was going to a Wade Morrow workshop).   Wade did call a square dance and everyone had a great time.   Congratulations, Bob!
