A Message From Our President

November 11, 2007

Dear Happy Time Squares:

The Happy Time Squares had many reasons to be Thankful last evening, while dancing at the Campus-West of the First Methodist Church:

One-hundred twenty dancers (51 guests & 69 members) came together to enjoy the calling of Vic Perry and cuing of Judy Broers & Vernon Nelson.

Seven Clubs visited from NE KS, including the Ottawa Promenaders, Kuntry Kuzzins, Kelly Kapers, Wheathearts, Frontier Twirlers, TNT and Riverbend Promenaders.

Those who retrieved their travel banner included the Atchison, River Bend Promenaders, Wheathearts, Kuntry Kuzzins & Frontier Twirlers.   The Ottawa Promenaders captured our Travel banner.

Visiting Callers and Cuers were:   Pam & Tom Young, Stash Toshio, Shirley Meloche & Bill Roles.

Club-members and guests brought a lot of food goods, which will be donated to the ECKAN Food Pantry by Ace & Lareeda Hickey for the Happy Time Squares.

Five HTS New Dancers came out to share in the festivities.

Refreshments were managed by Stan & Lois Zaremba, Tom and Georgia Sirridge, Vernon & Toni Nelson, and Bob & Rosalee Rainbolt.   The decorations were done by Marv & Myrt Jones and Bob & Beth Shipp.   Greeters of our guests were Dave & Nancy Wickersheim and Jack & JoAnn Price.

Elections of Officers for 2008 were held, following the dance, and we are pleased to have as our new officers: President:     Frank & Betty Alexander First Vice-President:     Dave & Barbara Neff Second Vice-President:     Lynn & Sherry Brun Treasurer:     Mike & Vicki Hegeman Secretary:     Gary & Elois Allan.

Congratulations to all of our new officers!!   Let us each "get behind" them in January, to support them toward having an excellent 2008, full of good times here in Lawrence and in our Travel dances.

Assistants to Dave & Barbara are Vernon & Toni Nelson and Lynn & Sherry will be assisted by Ernie & Jan Dyer.

Connie & I are grateful for the many friends we enjoy within the Happy Time Squares' activities, and are also grateful that "modern medicine" has made it possible for many of our special members to return to active membership (and to maintain his prominence, as in the case of Vic Perry).   It is good to have each of you back!!
