Fellow Members of Happy Time Squares,

On Saturday, April 10, 2010, 117 dancers attended our Dancing In The Rain dance party.   Forty-one guests from eight clubs joined 76 HTS members for a fun evening.   In addition to dancing guests, we had two spectators, Carol Noe's brother and sis-in-law, who seemed to enjoy watching all the activity.   Eleven squares were in our Grand March and on the floor for the first Mainstream tip.   Between tips, either Judy cued a line or Vernon a round.

The hall carried a spring theme with smily-face umbrellas on the stage and tiny ones on the cup-holder round tables.   Nancy Wickersheim was ably assisted by Wade, Laura, and Lydia Morrow in decorating. Greeting our guests were Tim & Ronda Shepard, Keith & Carol Noe, Ken & Charlotte Ikenberry.   The refreshment tables and drinks were presented and maintained by Larry & Alice DeMoss, Bob & Linn Suderman, and Arliss Douglass.   Setup and Cleanup coordinators CJ & Pat Baker were assisted by Dave Wickersheim, Frank & Betty Alexander, and Danny & Betty Lucas, in setup of the hall for dancing and then back for Church services after the dance.   Also decorating the stage was Jim Boehle's colorful and eye-catching Dancing In The Rain theme board.

Guest rounds cuer Stash Tosio favored us with a round and Wade Morrow called a lively tip, prompting dancer participation chanting back "the heck is Alice?!"   It was also good to see Gene Arnott in attendance with the Swingin' Singles, as a dancer, for he has retired from active calling.

Clubs attending included:  Diamond Rounds, Frontier Twirlers, Ottawa Promenaders, Riverbend Promenaders, Silver Dollars, Strato-Jets, Swingin' Singles, TNT.

Four clubs marched to retrieve their banner:   Ottawa Promenaders, Riverbend Promenaders, Strato-Jets, and Swingin' Singles.

We were told by several dancers during the evening and/or when departing our dance that they had a great evening of entertainment.   Our Happy Trails Circle was nominated as one of the highlights.   It is good to hear such compliments for our dance, and reflects on the hard work of so many members, Caller Vic, Judy, Vernon, and especially all our HTS dancers who like to have a good time.

We look forward to see you in another fun or travel dance coming up soon!
