It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year -
AND IT WAS A WONDERFUL DANCE!
Christmas Mitten Tree - Dance Report
Eighty-one members and twenty-four guests gathered Saturday Night for our holiday dance - the Christmas Mitten Tree Dance. And it was a wonderful dance!
Members and guests filled our tree with gloves and mittens - so many that we had to put them under the tree! We also received other useful items including socks, a scarf and pajamas! Your generosity is appreciated. Bob Rainbolt delivered the mittens and gloves to the Women's Transitional Care Services this morning. WCTS was very happy to get them!
Rosalee Rainbolt, Edie Boehle, Toni Nelson, and Sherry Brun added festive decorations everywhere that put us in a holiday mood. The spouses helped with setting up everything.
Ken & Charlotte Ikenberry, Mark Posch & Loretta Wright gave a warm welcome to members and guests, and gave them candy canes and friendly goodbyes as they left!
Ruth Mitchel, Tim & Ronda Shepard, and Ralph & Joy Basel helped Larry & Alice DeMoss with refreshments. They kept the table filled and even washed dishes for us afterward.
Vic was well prepared for the evening with a lot of good holiday songs for dancing. More holiday music made Judy's line dancing and Vernon's round dancing special.
We had an added attraction during the evening with the Second Annual Christmas Performance of the Happy Time Stompers. They clogged to "Here Comes Santa Claus" and "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree." Lydia Morrow made a very fetching Christmas tree for the latter dance.
As we concluded the last tip of the evening, Vic asked us all to join in the singing of "Silent Night." It added a special note to our evening.
As always, we concluded our dance with our Friendship Circle and "Happy Trails".
Break time for recognition!
During our announcement break, HTS thanked our cuers, Vernon and Judy, and their spouses, Toni and Gene, with cards signed by the members and Christmas bonuses. We also thanked Vic and his taw Donna with the same. Our club is fortunate to have these three dedicated couples and their talents.
We were the surprised and amazed recipients of gifts from Happy Time Squares. We received a dozen beautiful red roses and a wonderful framed (and personalized) picture of our members at our January Anniversary Dance. We also were very happy to get a gift certificate from Longhorn Steak House (our very favorite restaurant) and absolutely delighted to get a scrapbook of memories of our entire year. We also received mock letter from Microsoft poking good-natured fun at our propensity for prolific e-mails!
We also received a very nice personalized gavel from Vic & Donna as a memento of our office. Thank you, Vic and Donna, for your thoughtful gift.
We will cherish our memories and these gifts. We’ll look at the pictures many times and recall all the good times with Happy Time Squares! We also enjoyed the many personal notes that you added to the scrapbook.
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Post-Dance Recognition and Officer Installation
After our dance, members gathered to thank and recognize all the officers and committee chairs, who contributed so much to our successful year. We also realize that every member is important to the success of our club, and we thank you all.
We concluded the evening by installing our new officers. We know the club will be in excellent hands with the following leadership:
- Presidents: Bob & Rosalee Rainbolt
- 1st Vice Presidents: Toni & Vernon Nelson
- 2nd Vice Presidents: Larry & Alice DeMoss
- Secretary : Elsie Middleton
- Treasurers: Don & Ivey Harris
Toni & Vernon will be assisted by Keith & Carol Noe and Dave & Nancy Wickersheim. Elsie will be assisted by CJ & Pat Baker.
The new presidents received a symbol of office for Happy Time Squares - a personalized ice cream scoop!
It was a wonderful holiday dance and we thank everyone who came!
