Fellow members of Happy Time Squares,

  We Rocked Last Saturday Night!

Seventy-five members of Happy Time Squares were joined by twenty-seven guests to rock to the songs of the 50's and 60's.   Vic Perry was in top form with all singing calls from the era.   Vernon Nelson and Judy Broers cued rounds and lines that reflected the times.   T-shirts, poodle skirts, pedal pushers and other attire of the era livened up the atmosphere.

Toni Nelson, with help from Vernon, Jim & Edie Boehle, and Dave & Nancy Wickersheim, transformed the Eagles' Lodge into a 50's party scene!   Great decorations!   Ace & Lareeda Hickey and Ron & Sue Wilson greeted members and guests at the door and made them feel welcome.   Ernie & Jan Dyer, Ron & Linda Wright, and Tom & Nancy DeGarmo helped Larry & Alice DeMoss with the beverages and wonderful food provided by our members.   We thank all of you who helped make this such a fun evening.

As always, we thank EVERYONE who came to dance!   It wouldn't be fun without you!

  We Took Care of Business

Following our dance, members convened for a meeting and conducted some important business.

  Happy Trails Reinstated

Members reinstated our closing friendship circle, Happy Trails with a 70% positive vote.

  2010 Officers Elected

The membership unanimously approved the Nominating Committee's slate and elected officers for 2010.   They will take office in January 2010:

We congratulate our new officers for next year and thank them for their willingness to serve Happy Time Squares!

  Family Membership Approval

The membership unanimously adopted an amendment to our Constitution that establishes a family membership.   This amendment provides that a square dancer under eighteen in a household with at least one adult member may join Happy Time Squares for annual dues of $5.00.   Lydia Morrow became our first family member, joining her parents Wade & Laura Morrow in Happy Time Squares.

  We Start Lessons Next Week!

Square dance lessons start on Monday, September 21, at 7:00 p.m.   Once again, these lessons will be held at Centenary United Methodist Church in North Lawrence.   Many of you have signed up to attend as angels, and we thank you.   Even if you have not signed up, join us for a fun evening of introducing new dancers to the fun of square dancing.

It's not too late to send the names of anyone who might be interested in square dancing to Lynn and Sherry Brun.   Send names and addresses to   lynnjbrun@carrollsweb.com.   Invite your friends, neighbors and co-workers.   Remind them that the first three lessons are free, and that lessons do not close until after the third session.
