Members of Happy Time Squares:

Labor Day Weekend -- Enjoy!

The summer has flown past, and it's time for Labor Day.   We hope you have a wonderful weekend, whatever your plans.

If you are going to be in town for the weekend, there are two fun dances you may want to attend:

Topeka Strato Jets -- Croco Hall -- Friday, September 4 -- 7:30 p.m.

The Strato Jets return to their regular Friday schedule with a Hard Hat Dance to celebrate Labor Day.   They ask you to wear your work clothes.   Larry Stock is the caller and Wally Kelly will cue rounds.   Join them to kick off the weekend!

Ottawa Promenaders - Saturday, September 5 7:30 p.m.

NEW LOCATION -- Ottawa Middle School

The Ottawa Promenaders will kick of the fall season with a return to the Ottawa Middle School, 1230 South Ash.   This is where they danced before the move to Washburn Towers.   If you come in on 59 highway, turn west on 11th Street to Ash.   If you take the bypass (Eisenhower Road), turn east on 13th Street to Ash.

Our own Vic Perry will call the "Back to Basics" Dance, with Judy Broers cuing lines.   Should be a great dance!

Did you know that the first Labor Day celebration (parade and picnic) was held Tuesday, September 5, 1882 in New York City? In 1894 an Act of Congress established the holiday as recognition of the working people and their contributions to the country.

Travel Dance Report -- Swingin' Singles

Thirty-two members of Happy Time Squares traveled to Shawnee on Tuesday to join caller Jay Krebs and his Swingin' Singles for a great evening of square dancing.   155 dancers came to fill the floor and we all had a great time.

The following HTS members marched to steal their banner: Mike & Betty Anderson, Carl & Mary K Bahnmaier, C.J. & Pat Baker, Jim & Edie Boehle, Ron & Terry Copeland, Ernie & Jan Dyer, Don & Ivey Harris, Ace & Lareeda Hickey, Clarence & Sharon Kowalewski, Elsie Middleton, Ruth Mitchel, Robert Mugridge, Dave & Barbara Neff, Vernon & Toni Nelson, Lloyd & Connie Northrop, Bob & Rosalee Rainbolt, Nancy Reiling, and Ron & Linda Wright.

Happy Time Squares Dance -- September 12!

Let's Rock and Roll!

Different Location -- Eagles Lodge -- 1803 West 6th Street

Celebrate the Rock and Roll Era at our dance! Vic Perry can do the 50's songs better than anyone, and he'll be ready to make this a fun evening! Vernon Nelson will be there to cue rounds, and Judy Broers will be cuing lines.   Wear 50's attire if you like -- it is not required! Come and be ready for fun.

Reminder: There will be a membership meeting immediately following this dance.   We'll send more information on this next week.

In the meantime, have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!
