Looking Ahead!

Members of Happy Time Squares:

Some good stuff going on this week!   We hope to see you soon.

Demo Dance - Douglas County Fair - August 6

Please join us at the Douglas County Fair for a demonstration dance.   The dance will start at 6:30 in the "Black Top Area".   This area is north of Building 21 (where we used to dance); there is a stage and bleachers where we dance.   Our members always enjoy this opportunity.

Dress comfortably - men may wear short sleeve shirts.   Skirts are preferred (but not required) for women.   If it's hot, you'll probably want to be barelegged.   But no shorts, please.

We will have fans and plenty of water to drink.   We hope that many of you will attend and participate.   Several of our new dancers have told us they first found out about us at our Fair demonstration dance.

Wild Wild West Dance - Saturday, August 8

Come to the Wild West Side of Lawrence for our Wild Wild West Dance Saturday night.   We always have a lot of fun with this one - we encourage people to wear western attire and to be prepared to have a rip snortin' good time.   Gents (and ladies) - it's a chance to wear your favorite cowboy hat (at least for the first tip).

The dance is at the West [appropriate!] Campus of the United Methodist Church, on U.S. 40 about 1 block west of K-10 bypass. Plus dancing will start at 7:30, with Mainstream dancing at 8:00.   Vic Perry will get our feet [and boots] moving!   Vernon Nelson will cue rounds, with Judy Broers adding lines.   Be prepared for a lot of foot-moving, boot-stomping fun.

Help Needed to Sell Tickets

Please let us know if you are willing to sell Boots, Bows & BBQ Tickets on Saturday night.   If you would be able to work ½ hour between 6:30 and 8:30, we'd really appreciate it.   Let us know by responding to this e-mail or calling us.

Mike Hogan Special Dance - Sunday, August 9

The Shawnee Swingers sponsor this annual "Sunshine Special".   It's an all-day dance with rounds at 1:30 and 6:30, Plus Dancing at 2:30; and Mainstream Dancing at 7:00 p.m.   If you haven't danced to Mike Hogan, those of us who have can tell you he's a lot of fun!   Pam & Tom Young will cue rounds.   Not only is the dance fun, but we also gather for dinner between sessions.   Even if you're just coming for one session, plan to join us for dinner.   Vernon and Toni Nelson have reserved a room at The Casa Mexican Restaurant from 5 - 7 p.m.   The dance is at Croco Hall.
